How to search

You can search all items for Title of the piece, The Composer, The Artists, or any word or words which would appear on the sheet music you require. The fewer the words and letters in the search will produce the most results.

Advanced searches run in boolean mode, meaning you can use the following operators to return more relevant results.

• +, the word must be present in the result
• -, the word must not be present in the result
• >, increases the relevance of a word
• <, decreases the relevance of a word
• ~, causes the word's contribution to the result's relevance to be negative
• *, used after the word acts as a wildcard
• ", used around a phrase requires the literal phrase in the result

For example, if you want to search for results containing either 'Neil' or 'Diamond' in the title, you would enter simply 'Neil Diamond' into the keywords field. However, if you are interested in just the whole phrase appearing in the title, you should enter "Neil Diamond" (with double quotes) or you could even use '+Neil +Diamond' (plus signs, which ensure both words are in the results).

Please note the search facility does not like punctuation marks, for best results search around them, ie. if searching for 'Ain't Misbehavin' just put in 'Misbehavin' similarly if looking for Makin' Whoopee! just enter 'Makin' or 'Whoopee'.
